The party surprise!
Today (Friday the 13th) was a exciting day for the kids at Bateles school, not only did they have an amazing end of school 70s disco where different classes danced to different songs on stage in costumes (some of our favorites were the years 2s Boogey Wonderland and year 4s Waterloo) but a special guest also arrived! The one and only . . . Lisa Callaghan! Ms Callaghan arrived just in time to enjoy the year 4 performance of Waterloo and found it amazing that a school party would start at 8.30pm and go until after midnight!
So you can see how this was a very special day for Conil.
Money Matters.
Ever since this new guest came there have more sal esat shops, restaurants, bars and petrol stations in the Conil area! There have also been more people at beaches towns and cities! Thsi reported went to Calla de Aceite and found there to be only enough room left on the beach for two towels. The man selling doughnuts was making a lot of money. Is this spike in spending related to the arrival of this new guest? Has Lisa Callaghan's arrival made all the difference?
This is a good step up for step up for Conil!
Car Checkups
Today we will be reviewing Pia, a 2010 Peugeot Partner ,who has just driven to Lisbon from Conil and beyond to Porto and back. Pia's owners claim that Pia performed wonderfully on the long drive to Lisbon even though it was an extremely long distance in even more extremely hot weather. Apart from a disappointing lunch (which Pia was not responsible for) the trip went smoothly. In Lisbon Pia was given a rest while her owners walked and caught a ferry around. After a day and a half of rest, Pia was again reliable as she drove the family of five to Porto, with a detour to the beach town of Nazare. Pia did not seem to mind the sea air and was speedy on the highways. Once in Porto the car was able to handle the crazy car park with ease. After another big rest, where the family didn't use her once, Pia was ready to tackle another boarder crossing and ended up in the busy and tight streets of Sevilla where she was still reliable and her air conditioning worked a treat. This was essential with temperatures hitting 37 degrees. Overall Pia gets a rating of 8/10 because she is a bit noisy and her back windows only open slightly.

4. Walk across the bridges, checking out the funny river boats below.
5. Visit the line for the most beautiful bookshop in the world (if you have a spare hour or two, line up and have a look!)
6. Check out the cool street art (the rabbit it particularly good).

Top things to do in Tangier :
1. Take a beautiful ferry from Tarifa to Tangier. It only takes half an hour and you are in a new continent!!!!
2. In the medina admire the different mosques, synagogues and churches.
3. Look at all the funny cats. There are so many!
4. Barter for leather bags at the souks.
5. Enjoy a refreshing drink in the medina (but make sure it doesn't have a bug on it!).
6. Go to the coast where the Atlantic ocean meets the Mediterranean sea.
7. Have (another) tagine for lunch (tricky if you don't eat chicken!)
8. Go to the caves of Hercules where he was supposed to have gone to rest after fighting a tiger. It is the opinion of the reporter that that never happened.
9. At the cave look at the men with the falcon and McCaw parrots, but don't touch. You don't want to encourage them to keep birds like that!
10. Catch a very late ferry back to Tarifa, have dinner at 11pm and get home to Conil by 1am!

Opinion piece
It was really nice having Nanny here and showing her places and exploring new ones. "I hope she has a nice time in Australia and that she always knows we miss her." says a local girl in Conil. We, at the El Papel de Conil, can highly recommend having Nanny come to stay. Even if the weather was the hottest it has ever been just for the time she was here. At least that meant that she got to have lots of swims! She even got to go to the air conditioned Ikea while her grandchildren (nietas) has skateboarding.
