Fun times

I have been very busy these last 2 weeks.
But there were 4 main things that stood out: going to Portugal, Sevilla and got our residency cards in Mataro plus we went to the carnaval in Conil!

CARNAVAL CONIL

In Spain they do this carnival. The carnival (carnaval in Spanish) has lots of bits to it but the bit we saw were these people who got into groups with their friends and put on matching costumes and sing a funny song!
We saw heaps of groups perform but my favourite was probably some guys pretending to be paratroopers!
I really liked listening to the songs even though I couldn't understand them. The paratroopers even threw loads of confetti on us!

RESIDENCY CARDS

On Monday the 24th we woke up early got ready and hopped  in the car for 2 hours to the airport of Sevilla! At the airport we went through security and we ended up getting on the plane before it got light!
The plane took us to Barcelona were we caught an hour train to Mataro!
At Mataro, Nuri picked us up and took us to the police station. We had to wait a while there before it was our turn. But when it got our turn they made us go inside and wait again:(
But finally they called our name and we went to one of the police officers. They scanned our finger prints and looked at our passports. It took a while but in the end we got our cards!
Then Nuri took us to see Jan and his boats! Jan had 2 boats. One was new the other one was old.
We went in the old one first. It was amazing! There were bunk beds and a kitchen and its name was Española!
The other boat had all the same stuff but I still thought the other one was better. After that  we went to this place in Catalonia were we had Calcots and artichoke. They were delicious I loved them!!!     When we had finished we drove to Nuri's house where we played with Pia, Luna's cousin!
But we couldn't stay long cause we had to get back to Barcelona, so Jan took us to the train station. But the train didn't come! So we waited longer but the next train didn't come. We waited even longer but it still didn't come! We  were going to miss our flight!!!! 3 trains didn't come! What were we going to do?...

But just when no hope was left it....

CAME!!!!!!!!!!!! We were saved !!!!!!!!!

It was so so so so squishy ! I thought no more people could fit but they just kept on coming!!! It felt like you could take your feet off the ground and you wouldn't fall! I did NOT like it. But by the end we got to the airport and caught our plane back to Sevilla. Phew.

When we got to Sevilla we got into our apartment, put our stuff down got into our pyjamas, brushed our teeth and went to bed!

Sevilla

Our first day in Sevilla. We started off with a walk around. On our walk around we saw this big mushroom... It is one of the largest wooded structures in the whole word. It was ginormous. I loved looking at all the bit about how it was made. But sadly we couldn't got and walk on the top of it. It is called Setas. Sevilla is a really nice, pretty city. I really liked the effort they had put into all the squares and the building. Plus it was more colourful than most cities. I thought we were so lucky to be around such a nice city. And it had heaps of cool shops that I wanted to go in!

Next we went to get some churros and it was the best I have ever had! I loved it! We also had a look around lots of squares. Then we went to the HUGE cathedral! We went inside and we climbed up this huge tower thing. I really liked that because I like heights. When were were up there we heard the bells ring! They ring whenever we go up a tower! We also went to the church bit of it. It was really cool. I liked looking at all the old stuff and all the carvings in the walls. I think that Gaudi got inspiration for the Sagrada Familia from some other cathedrals like this one.

After the cathedral we went home. On the way we went to a book shop that had English books. We got to choose a book each. I chose one called The Kingdom Over the Sea. So far I am really enjoying it. At home we had a little rest and then we went to.... THE ROCK CLIMBING CENTRE! We hopped in the car and sped to the centre. We climbed for ages! It was really awesome! I love giving myself challenges on the bouldering walls! Esther got stuck at the top of a wall (you walked along the top and had to climb a ladder to get down). I had to go up and help her get to the ladder because she does NOT like heights! When it was over we went back home and had dinner and went to sleep.

Our second day in Sevilla started with Mumma taking Esther and I to the skatepark. Dadda went to sort out something with a car. The skatepark was pretty good... but there was a man sleeping in one of the bowls. I didn't like that part.  I really liked dropping in one of the deep sides of the bowl and popping out the other side. I also quite liked doing acid drops off the boxes. Then Dadda joined us...Dadda tried to do the tricks like us but he wasn't up to it yet:)
After that we went to plaza Espana . It  was super cool, there were fish in the river around it and seats made for a expo and a really cool building with deck! IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!
But after a while, sadly we had to go:( …       To the pottery side of town.  We went in heaps of shops but didn't see anything we liked:( Or anything that we liked but that we could afford!

The next day we just walked around a bit and ! got a fan...
THEN WE WENT TO ........

PORTUGAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When we arrived in Portugal we found our apartment, went to the shops had dinner and went to bed.
The next day we went to this beautiful beach  with heaps of caves! It was  really cool. I love looking at what's in the caves and seeing what was behind the rocks!!! One time we had to climb over this clay cliff thing to get to a secret beach! After that we went to Largos, this really cool town (in my opinion). There we went into all these cool shops with different types of cool fish and heaps more things. After looking at all the stores we left to a café where we had lunch! I got a piece of toast with cheese and mushrooms, Esther got some scrambled eggs and mummy and daddy got a sandwich.
Then we hopped back in the car and went to this beach that was famous for its caves!  When we got there we had to walk a little bit to the beach but that was fine. When we got there the caves weren't so good but that's fine:) we just played on the beach! Then we went back to our city in Portugal (Faro) and had a walk around. But wait who's that walking towards us? Its PETTIE AND JUDY!!! It was so amazing to see Pettie and meet her friend Judy.  We loved showing her around and seeing her apartment. After a bit of talking and exploring we went to a place were we had chicken and chips. And then went to bed.

The next day we met Pettie and Judy at a café and then we had a bigger look around the city.  We went in this cathedral witch had a part of it witch was entirely made of bones, it was amazing!!! There were real life peoples skulls and bones... it was amazing!!! But our tickets didn't let us stay for long but that was okay because now we can climb the city's walls !!! We could see every thing from there from the port to the cathedrals. It really was awesome. But it didn't take long for us to get bored so we hoped back down and went to this market! At the markets Pettie brought a wallet and we saw a puppet show in Portuguese! Then we went into some tourist shops and I brought a metal chicken!!! And Esther brought a ceramic  fish and a mini chicken for us both! Then we had lunch. We have done a lot of things but not SKATING!!! So we went to the skatepark where I did  some rock to fakies and some drop ins. Then we had dinner at Pettie and Judy's apartment. And then went back to our apartment and went to sleep.

The next day we packed up and drove to Olhao, a town on the way to our next stop. It was cute but I wouldn't recommend it  though. There were crabs and mini tops of boats stuck to houses and used as plant holders but we didn't stay long because we had to go to Tevira! When we got to Tevira we saw a turtle, Pettie, a castle, Judy, had a Nutella croissant and went back to the car and drove back to Seville swapped back our car and went home.

I never thought I would get this post done! PHEW!

  1. Your adventures just keep rolling on Astrid! You’re fitting an amazing amount into your time over there. Sevilla looks spectacular. Hopefully you’ll be able to show us around a bit while we’re with you. I especially want to see Setas, it looks sensational. Being crammed into that train doesn’t sound like much fun 😬 but catching up with Pettie and Judy sounds muy divertido! Can’t wait to see you! Lots of love, Nana and Farber xx
