Montserrat and before
On Monday the 6th it was Esther's birthday... and Pettie, my aunty had come in two days before to see us! We showed her around the city. She was amazed when she saw the cathedrals and the little alley ways. Next on the list we Esther's birthday but first was the 3 Kings Parade. The people in the parade were amazing, the way they knew what to do and just the way they danced and used their costumes. But it was also from 6 o'clock to 9 o'clock so we had to go to sleep a couple of minutes after it.
The next day I woke up first. Then it was Mummy and Daddy. We silently put the 3 Kings presents in the loungeroom. When Esther and Aunty Pettie woke up, we opened the 3 Kings presents. A soccer ball for Esther and a tennis racquet for me. There were two mystery presents each too. We both got a Sagrada Familia sticker and a bucket of lollies! But the presents weren't done yet. I still had to hide Esther's birthday presents! So Esther and Mummy went outside the apartment while I hid Esther's presents. When I was done I yelled, 'DONE!' and they came in. Now Esther had gotten too many presents for me to name, but her main one was rollerblades! She put them on straight away.
For breakfast we had eggs, then went out for another big walk. On the walk we saw some more Gaudi buildings. Gaudi is the person who deigned the Sagrada Familia. We walked to the beach where we tried Esther's roller blades. She got WAY better by the end. When we got home, we had a party and a cake that Daddy had made of the Sagrada Familia. It was amazing! And very clever and very delicious.
Then next day it was time to say good bye to Pettie. It was sad but had to be done. We had a quiet day playing around at home. We played in the park, did washing and went shopping.
But today we went on two train rides (one for a whole hour), a special type of train that goes up hills (it was called a rack rail) and the rack rail lead us to this little village on top of the mountain. It was called Montserrat. At Montserrat we went to this museum where we saw heaps of cool Egypt artefacts and amazing paintings. After the museum we went to this special church thing with really cool carvings in the wall.
Next we went on another type of uphill train called a funicular. The funicular took us to this track where we climbed up a mountain. At the top of the mountain it was so windy and it was so much fun. The views were amazing! Mummy thought we were going to blow away! But then sadly it was time to go back down the mountain. We took some different stairs to the way we took up. They were much more fun. When we hit the path, Daddy spotted some ibex's. They looked like mountain goats. They were so cool! I loved their horns! And there were even babies! I took heaps of photos!
Then it was time to take all the trains back home. THE END.
So many steps Astrid! What excellent adventures you're having! What a lot of different trains you are travelling on too! You are certainly seeing some amazing things. Which was tastier: Essie's birthday cake or the Three Kings cake? Fantastic that you got hang out with Auntie Pet for a few days and it looks like the weather was a lot nicer there than the freezing, snowy weather she returned to in England! Montserrat looks very spectacular. Hope you get a chance to use your tennis racquet soon. Your photos are wonderful! Love Nana and Farber
