Car rides

Yesterday the 16th of January, we woke up and it was FREEZING outside... But that wasn't going to stop us!!! We set off for Cadaques. Cadaques is this town near where we are staying. When we got there, we had a walk around. We saw this old church that had this really cute cat in it! We went to all these little beaches on the side of it. The buildings in Cadaques were super cute! They were mostly white with blue or green shutters. I loved it. But more than the buildings, I loved going to the beaches. The best beach was this little island on the edge of town. It had this little path that took us across to the island. We climbed the rocks to the top and could see the whole town! It was amazing. I loved climbing the rocks.

Sadly we couldn't stay there for long because we had booked an appointment at this special restaurant. The restaurant was on top of these mountains near France. The mountain was very windy and had lots of rocks that Esther and I liked to climb on! But inside the restaurant it was nice and sheltered from the wind. We had a great view of the other mountains and the sea. Out first dish was some bread and this YUMMY salami (it was delicious!). Then we had a look at the menu and decided what we wanted. Esther and I both wanted some pasta. Mummy and Daddy ordered some steak and some of this delicious sausage. After lunch it was time to go. We wanted to explore near the restaurant but when we got outside we realised it was raining! So we ran to the car and started driving...

We drove to FRANCE! It was a bit of a long drive (about an hour) but we survived. France was just like Spain but I think that is because we were in the country near the boarder! We didn't go down to the little village but could see it! It looked cute like Cadaques.

We didn't stay very long because it was raining, so we drove back home.

The next day we woke up, got ready and went straight to the Dali museum (in Figueres) Dali is this person who likes to paint surreal things. It was cool there. I liked the outside courtyard the best. We saw some cool pictures, like this picture where the clocks were dripping!

Then we went to this cool castle! It had a moat, a couple of squares, EVERYTHING! It was amazing and I really loved it. I really liked the height of the castle and discovering the ruins. I can't believe how old it was. It was really cool to know how they did things back then and how they protected themselves. We even saw some donkeys in the moat!

When it was time to go, Esther and I found this cool path down to the car. When we got to the car we drove to this other town called Girona. There we got something to eat and went through all these really cool alleyways. Some were really dark and some were really light. It was really amazing. I particularly liked the dark ones! I also liked being able to choose which path to take!

We stayed until it was almost dark so we had to go home. The End.

  1. Fantastic Astrid! I can’t believe you’ve been to the DalΓ museum too! That must have been a surreal experience 😁 The castle looks awesome and those little alleys must have been so much fun to explore! Seems like the Costa Brava is deserted! A great time to visit I reckon 😁

  2. Grandma and I are loving your blogs! Every now and then we get locked out and Grandma has never gotten in ….. she says she’s too scared if she signs in as a blogger , she might become an influencer accidentally and have to take selfies all the time! . (To be truthful, it’s grandma writing this time 😘). Your travels are breath taking! We love Dali and his clever creative mind. One of my personal favourite blogs from both of you was about the climbing goats who looked extremely precarious. I was terrified for them and hoped their hooves were in good shape.
Looks like you’re cold there!!! We’re boiling hot up here.
Captain Jack and Billy are on their best behaviour right now because we’re selling our house so we can head back to TAS by the end of the year! That means no more snuffling on windows, or playing soccer inside the house - for the boys I mean….. Grandpa and I don’t snuffle on windows generally. Big hugs for both of you.xx
